Summer's Perfect Meal

Gazpacho, the only way to go when it's 80 degrees outside!

Finally, a tomato ripening! We have 5 varieties of tomato this year, hoping they produce for us big time!

Basil is loving life! We are making pesto, potato, and green beans pasta for dinner later this week, with our own basil and everything else from the Lake Forest Park Farmers Market which we went to for the first time this weekend. All of the same great stuff as the Ballard one, without the insane amounts of people to get through!

Scrambled and Frittata say, "Oi, it's hot! Good thing Dad built us a new door and fenced area so we can get shade in the jungle!"

We enjoyed an extremely relaxing weekend consisting of reading, playing at the beach, swimming at Green Lake, more reading, a Sounders win, and more reading! I've never seen Kevin read so much at one time, and he is currently at it again! He's reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, which I highly recommend. I finished up Kate Atkinson's Behind the Scenes at the Museum, which I loved. It is a very unique coming of age story with a magical narrator in Ruby Lennox. I just started Love in the Time of Cholera, on the high recommendation of a coworker. I'm really liking it so far, and I think it is the perfect accompaniment to this hot weather we are enjoying!
