Yay! New Shirt!

I'm vaguely obsessed with the website threadless.com
I bought a new shirt last week and it came in the mail today. I love getting packages, even when I know they are coming. So here it is, which I will likely wear to work tomorrow even though I'm not supposed to wear tshirts. It's just too cute not to!

Eating well

For Christmas, my brother Matt and his wife Terri got Kevin a subscription to Eating Well magazine, and we are head over heels in love with it! It's got fantastic recipes, and we especially like the weekday "in a hurry" meals.

We've tried two recipes, first was the Skillet Tuna Noodle Casserole, which was surprisingly delicious, although it was missing something...we think salt. But alas, we are trying to reorient our palates to less sodium, so we didn't add anymore. However, a dash of cayenne pepper really boosted it up!

Then last night I made Chicken and Sundried Tomato Orzo. It was totally amazing! We steamed up some fresh organic broccoli for a side dish, which we haven't had in a really long time. We usually just buy frozen broccoli, and the difference in the flavor was astounding! Yay for the arrival of spring produce!

One note, the portions were gigantic! It said it served four, so we took a quarter each, and it was enormous! I probably would have said six-eight servings, depending on what else was being served with it. A successful meal anyhow. Next up is Kung Pao Tofu. First time cooking with tofu, so we shall see!

Cutest little book ever!

My best friend Abby sent me this lovely little book that she found in a museum gift shop. It of course reminded her of me, bibliophile that I am! It is full of great temporary tattoos relating to book lovers and librarians, and I adore it! Only problem is that I want to actually use the tattoos, but also can't bear to have them removed from the book! Maybe I'll have to track down a second one for tattooing pleasure!
Good motivation to get working on my grad school dreams, I've been putting it on hold far too long, and I want to figure out if being a librarian is really what I want in life! Then I can sport the tat with pride!

Oh, wedding planning

My wedding dress is ready for me to go get fitted! I'd put up a picture, but Kevin may be frequenting my blog, so I don't want him seeing it. I also ordered the bridesmaid dresses yesterday, which are quite lovely I think!
This is Abby's dress. She looks great in strapless dresses, though I still haven't seen the pictures of her in this one in particular. Lauren prefers straps on her dress, and she looks amazing in this one in my opinion! Next up is figuring out invitations and flowers! Yikes!

Spring comes to Seattle early!

I was looking back through a journal from last year, and in February I wrote a poem about how bitterly cold it was. What a change this year! We're going on 2 weeks of pure sunshiney bliss. With that, I've been much more active than I normally am, walking around Greenlake (even jogging on Monday, much to my knees chagrin) at least 3 or 4 times a week.

Kevin and I planted the first of our garden on Monday. We decided to go with Oregon Sugar Pole peas this year, because they don't grow quite as tall as sugar snap peas. They should start poking out of the soil in a couple of weeks! It also looks like our strawberry plants survived the winter, which is a bit of a miracle since we didn't protect them at all!

Hopefully the gorgeous weather will continue, because I am loving getting vitamin D. It sure makes it tough to stay at work all day though!

First blog post!

I've been wanting to start blogging for months. In fact, I've had this particular site set up for a couple months, and have started writing and deleting posts many time. So here goes nothing, I'm gonna start blogging about my life! This will likely be about traveling, knitting, gardening, reading, movies, my endless mission of trying to get in shape, planning my upcoming wedding, and anything else that might come up and be of interest. Hope you enjoy!
